This Privacy Policy explains what information Next Jamaat processes, why it is needed, which service providers receive it, and the choices available to you. We collect only what is needed to operate and improve the prayer-times service.
Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use, Next Jamaat may process:
- Account information: If you sign in with Google, we receive your Firebase user ID, name, email address, and profile photo.
- Location data: Your device location is used for local prayer calculations, Qibla direction, maps, and nearby-masjid discovery. Nearby searches send latitude, longitude, and search radius to a Firebase Cloud Function, which may query Google Places. Google Maps and the optional Google Qibla Finder may also process location according to Google's terms.
- Community activity: Prayer-time edits, confirmations, reports, notices, and media submissions may be stored with your user ID and display name so the service can show update history, prevent abuse, and moderate content.
- Device and app information: App version, language, notification token, basic device/app events, diagnostics, and crash information may be processed through Firebase.
- Camera access: Used for the optional AR Qibla experience and for media features you choose to use. Camera images are not uploaded unless you explicitly submit media.
- Compass/Magnetometer: Used to display accurate Qibla direction on your device.
- Notification access: Used to deliver prayer reminders, subscribed-masjid updates, and service announcements you have enabled.
- Do Not Disturb and alarm access (Android): Used only if you enable Auto-Vibrate or related prayer-time automation.
Compass readings are processed on your device. Location may be sent to Firebase and Google only when needed for a location-based feature such as nearby search, maps, or AR Qibla.
How We Use Your Information
We use this information to:
- Display accurate prayer times based on your location
- Show Qibla direction and nearby masajid
- Sync followed masajid, settings, Quran bookmarks, annotations, and dua favourites when you sign in
- Publish and maintain community-provided jamaat times and update history
- Deliver requested prayer, jamaat-update, and broadcast notifications
- Moderate abuse, secure the service, diagnose failures, and improve reliability
- Automatically manage phone ringer settings only when you enable that feature
Third-Party Services
We use service providers to operate the app:
- Google and Google Places/Maps/Qibla Finder: Google sign-in, nearby-place results, maps, navigation, and the optional AR Qibla experience
- Firebase: Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Storage, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, and Crashlytics
- Algolia: For mosque search functionality
These providers process data under their own privacy terms. We do not sell personal information or share it for third-party advertising.
Data Storage
Information may be stored:
- Locally: Prayer data, preferences, downloaded content, and other app data are kept on your device for offline use.
- In Firebase: Signed-in account information, settings, subscriptions, notification tokens, synced personal content, community contributions, moderation records, and submitted media may be stored in the cloud.
We retain account data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. Security, moderation, transaction, and legal records may be retained for a limited period where reasonably necessary. Public community contributions may be retained in de-identified form so prayer-time history remains accurate.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted HTTPS connections, restricted administrative access, monitoring, and service-provider safeguards. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please report suspected misuse to us promptly.
Your Rights
You can:
- Revoke any permission at any time through your device settings
- Change notification and location choices in the app or device settings
- Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored information
- Delete your signed-in account and associated cloud data from the app
- Request account deletion through our public deletion page if you cannot access the app
Uninstalling the app removes local data but does not by itself delete a signed-in cloud account. Please use one of the account-deletion options above.
Children's Privacy
Our app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
